January 2015 – Since 2010, Ken and Evie Kramer have dished out home cooked meals to area residents and road trippers at Ventura’s Cafe 126. When the Santa Paula Airport, 20 miles northeast of the cafe, went hunting for a new restaurant operator, they didn’t look very far.Ken and Evie jumped at the chance to expand, and in July 2014 Flight 126 Café was born. Pilots and locals alike flocked to the new cafe, soaking in the sun, planes, and hearty fare, all from the comforts of Flight 126’s expansive patio. Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, the café serves country favorites like chicken fried steak and roast turkey, along with deli sandwiches, burgers, breakfast scrambles, and omelets. See their Facebook page for a complete menu.
If you go, make time to check out the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula, renowned for First Sunday displays of planes, cars, and antique collectibles located right in the airport’s hangars. See their website for details.
